A planner without a subscription

Every planner worth using wants $4 to $34 a month, forever, for a list of what you are doing this week. Sevens is $25 once. This page is the argument for why that is the right way round.

What a subscription actually costs

Sevens$0 — paid once$25
TeuxDeux$4/month$108
Sunsama$22/month$612
Akiflow$34/month$684

Why pay once works here

A subscription is fair when a product costs its maker money every month — servers doing real work, a team keeping something alive, an API being paid for. A weekly planner is not that. It is a page of your own writing, synced between your own devices.

So Sevens charges once. The money comes from the next person who buys, not from billing the last one forever. That is a smaller business, and a more honest one.

The counter-argument, said out loud

One-time pricing only holds if the product keeps improving. If it stops, the model failed and you are left holding something that stopped moving.

Which is why: every feature added later is included, your weeks export as plain JSON in one click, the app works offline from a single file, and there is a 30-day refund with no questions. If Sevens stops being worth it, you keep your data and you lose nothing further.

What "yours" means in practice

Nothing is deleted

If you never buy, your weeks stay readable and exportable forever. You just cannot add or edit until you do.

Everything later is included

Recurring tasks, a calendar feed, a weekly recap — whatever comes next arrives at no further cost.

One click to leave

Export is plain JSON from the account page, and you can import it back.
